The 4-part self-assessment every coaching CEO needs (in this email!)

Hi, Reader!

If you want to grow without burning out, your marketing can’t just be consistent—it has to be sustainable and measurable.

I’ve been testing a simple assessment tool with coaching CEOs to help pinpoint exactly where their marketing ecosystem stands—and where to focus next.

Today, I want to share that tool with you.

It takes just a few minutes to complete and helps you evaluate 4 key areas of your marketing ecosystem:

Marketing Ecosystem Maturity Self-Assessment

Score yourself from 1 to 5 on each of the following dimensions:

  1. Lead Clarity - How clearly do you understand what turns visitors into leads?
    1. I only track views. I don’t know what happens after someone visits my site.
    2. I can see where traffic comes from, but I’m not tracking opt-ins or form completions yet.
    3. I’ve set up some lead tracking, but it’s inconsistent across my site. (Or I'm doing it manually.)
    4. I can identify some of my top lead sources and which offers they respond to.
    5. I have full visibility into which sources bring in my best leads and why.
  2. Content ROI - Do you know what content is actually moving your business forward?
    1. I post regularly, but I have no idea which content performs well.
    2. I know which posts get the most likes or reach but not which ones convert visitors into leads or clients.
    3. I have some gut insight into what’s working but haven’t tracked it formally.
    4. I can identify content that leads to conversions and repurpose it when I remember.
    5. I consistently track, optimize, and reuse content that drives leads and sales.
  3. System Setup - Are your tools working together to give you the data you need?
    1. I’ve activated GA4 but haven’t looked at the data.
    2. I’ve got GA4 on my site and looked at the data, but it's not helpful/I'm not sure what the numbers mean.
    3. I’ve customized my setup with a few key events, so I know how many leads I get.
    4. I’ve established benchmarks for my marketing channels and know where my leads come from.
    5. My system tracks the full lead journey across channels and shows me what’s working in real-time.
  4. Channel Alignment - Are you focusing on the right channels based on data and capacity?
    1. I’m showing up on one or more platforms inconsistently.
    2. I’m active on one or more platforms, but I’m still unsure where to focus.
    3. I’m tracking which channels seem most active but not necessarily which convert.
    4. I’ve identified my top 1–2 performing channels and prioritized content for those.
    5. I have a streamlined channel strategy based on data, capacity, and conversion quality - and my systems support it.

Tally your score and see where you land:

  • 4–8 pointsFoundation Phase: It’s time to clarify your lead flow, customize your tracking, and measure what matters.
  • 9–15 pointsOptimization Phase: You’ve got the pieces in place. Now it’s about refining and scaling what’s already working.
  • 16–20 pointsAmplification Phase: You have a strong, measurable ecosystem and can confidently invest in growth.

Hi, Reader! There’s this quiet myth running under so many coaching businesses:“I’m just not a data person.” Maybe you’ve said it. Or felt it. Or told yourself that your intuition is your superpower (and it is.) But here’s what I want to challenge: If you’re the CEO of your business, you don’t need to become a spreadsheet wizard. But you do need to know what’s working—and what’s not—so you can stop spinning your wheels. ✨ That’s not a data task. That’s a leadership skill. And honestly? Most...

Hi, Reader! What if your marketing isn’t broken? What if you’re chasing leads the wrong way—because you were handed or built a system on "proven" advice that doesn’t fit how your business actually works? Most coaches are told to generate leads by: → showing up constantly, consistently → selling in every post, or trying to go viral → following the funnel builds from bizfluencers and gaming numbers with ad spend you can't sustain → becoming a content machine But here’s the thing:Coaching is...

Hi, Reader!Let’s be honest: There’s no shortage of advice out there telling you to post more, launch more, build more. But if you’re like many of the thoughtful CEOs and creatives I work with, you’ve already done more—and you’re still not seeing the momentum you hoped for. In my latest post, I walk through a better approach:Designing marketing strategies that align with your actual capacity—not someone else’s calendar. Because sustainability isn’t about scaling hustle. It’s about building...
