The Hidden Cost of the “Do More” Marketing Trap

Hi, Reader!

You’ve done the masterminds. The courses. The coaching.

You’ve invested real time and money to grow your business and you’re not afraid to do the work.

But the leads still aren’t flowing. And if one more person tells you to post more, spend more on ads or launch a “self-liquidating offer,” you might scream.

How much profit do you have to hand over to Meta and Google before something actually clicks?

Here’s what I’ve seen over and over again:

Smart, capable coaches get stuck chasing strategies that weren’t built for their business.

And it’s not because they’re not trying. It’s because of something I call The Data Disconnect.

That’s when your marketing feels like a full-time job…but the results are unpredictable. Inconsistent. Exhausting.

Here’s how it shows up:

  1. Marketing Fatigue + Content Overload – You’re producing, publishing, tweaking… but nothing’s sticking.
  2. Identity Drift + Brand Disconnect – You’re following advice that doesn’t fit you—and your audience can feel it.
  3. Strategy Paralysis + Stunted Growth – You’re trying everything, and it’s scattering your focus and profits.

This isn’t about effort. You’ve got plenty of that.

It’s about building a system that shows you what’s actually working—so you can do more of that, and less of the rest.

I recently worked with a coach who was in this exact trap. We mapped her marketing ecosystem, focused on what her own data was telling us, and refined her strategy for sustainable, organic growth.

She didn’t need more ads. She needed clarity in what was working to bring her best-fit clients.

And when that clicked? Her leads got better. Her profits went up. Her stress went down.

I’m curious: have you felt this pattern in your own business?

Hit reply and let me know.

That’s what I tackled in my latest post: 2026 Marketing Predictions: 5 Trends That Matter (and What to Do About Them). 👉 Read the full predictions here. I’ll give you the highlights now:...

Hi, Reader! Here’s something I believe with my whole heart: You are a steward — not at the mercy of algorithms, and not dependent on gurus and bizfluencers. Stewardship is about tending what you’ve been entrusted with — your time, energy, relationships, and business — so it thrives, compounds, and blesses others. Stewardship means you’re not a victim of shifting algorithms or a slave to playbooks. You are the one who gets to guide, tend, and grow what you’ve been given. It’s not just...
